Synopsis

Kyoichi Suzuki is an average college student in his junior year. Although he’s not in one of the top universities, he’s satisfied with his college life studying architecture. Kyoichi left home and is finally on his own, living in a beat-up apartment in Tokyo. However, this apartment building is home to some out-of-the-ordinary residents, who are always bugging Kyoichi. His next-door neighbor hits Kyoichi up for a loan when he finds out that Kyoichi just got paid. His other next- door neighbor who works at a nightclub, always calls Kyoichi, demanding him to come pick her up, because she’s so drunk. Other than that, Kyoichi is satisfied with his normal life, until he meets a girl one day…

Kyoichi comes home from his part-time job as a night-time security guard. He returns to his room to find a girl sleeping on his bed-a girl he has never seen before. She looks a bit older than Kyoichi, and is quite beautiful. Kyoichi can’t believe his eyes.

Kyoichi closes the door, and goes outside to the entrance of the apartment, to make sure he’s in the right apartment and room. There’s no mistake. He returns inside…but the girl is gone. There’s nobody in his room. Was it just his imagination? Was he hallucinating? Kyoichi can’t understand what just happened.

Later, he discovers that something is missing from his grocery bag-the Chinese noodles he was looking forward to eating are gone…

This is how Kyoichi first meets Surumi Kataoka. After they meet, Surumi continues living in Kyoichi’s room.

She points to an apartment visible from Kyoichi’s room, and says that the guy living there dumped her for another girl. Surumi says that she’s waiting to check out the girl she was dumped for. Kyoichi doesn’t know if he ought to believe her or not.

All Kyoichi knows is that while Surumi is such a charming girl, the expression on her face is sad at times.

Kyoichi is not that disappointed about sharing his room with a cute girl. He starts to think that this lifestyle may go on forever, until one day, Surumi suddenly disappears-just like the day she suddenly appeared. All she leaves for Kyoichi are unanswered questions.

Koibumi is a very well-acted series that stars Watabe Atsuro, Mizuno Miki, and Wakui Emi. The story is based on the 1984 Naoki Award-winning short story “Koibumi” by Mikihiko Renjo that addressed the subtleties of male and female relationships. It was made into a film the following year. The story was adapted for the screen by renowned scriptwriter Okada Yoshikazu.

Shouichi (Watabe Atsuro) is an art teacher with a very eccentric style. He basically has the personality of a young boy who does things that he feels are right, and doesn’t really think too much about the consequences of his actions. Shoichi’s wife, Kyouko (Mizuno Miki), is a no-nonsense mother figure that always has to clean up after Shoichi’s mistakes. Their two personalities strike a balance and they enjoy a happy life together with their son, Suguru, who has grown up to be more responsible to make up for his father’s childishness.

One day, his former lover Etsuko (Wakui Emi) shows up at his school, and tells him that she is dying from a terminal illness and has only six months to live. Shouichi decides to be with her until her death, so he quits his job, leaves his family, and finds a new job so he can spend more time with Etsuko at the hospital. Kyouko wakes up to find her husband gone with no explanation, and goes out in search of him…

Synopsis

A romantic comedy about women in their 30’s

For everyone who still remembers “Suteki na Kataomoi,” “Tokyo Love Story,” “101st Proposal,” prepare yourselves for even more of those same touching moments again.

Breaking the tradition of the main character for a Monday night drama being a woman in her 20’s, Esumi Makiko stars as Kyoko Asaoka, a 32-year-old heart surgeon working at a hospital in Tokyo. Men tend to shy away from the tall, well-educated and well-paid Kyoko because they see her as a woman that can do things on her own. The truth of the matter is that Kyoko is just unlucky in love. She is also old-fashioned, and wants to fall in love just like anyone else, but has a hard time showing her real self to men. Fuji TV

New Dorama from Kimutaku..

The story begins with the deaths of ruling party’s Fukuoka legislator and his eldest son, his heir apparent, in an accident. It is decided that a by-election will be held, and Kanbayashi Masaichi, the leader of the ruling party, and secretary Miyama Rika conceive the idea of fielding the second son, Asakura Keita, who had been renounced by his father.

After Keita graduated from senior high school, he went on to a university in Nagano because he wanted to live in a place with beautiful stars, and eventually became an elementary school teacher over there. Well-liked by children and satisfied with his beloved star gazing, Keita has no interest in the world of politics. However, at Rika’s persuasion and the pressure of his family, he reluctantly decides to announce his candidacy.

Upon returning to Fukuoka, Keita is given a hearty welcome by supporters. The election strategist, Nirasawa Katsutoshi, arrives there. He is guided by the notion “election is the only permitted legal war” and begins Keita’s election campaign. –jade_frost

geoffropuff says: See it

When I first started watching this show, I thought to myself, “a
guy who styles hair and a handicapped librarian, BOOOOORING”. However,
being the drama fiend that I am, I toughed out the first few episodes,
and found that I couldn’t stop watching.

Kimura Takuya gives another one of his very convincing
performances, possibly because this role is similar to all his other
roles of the guy who keeps to himself, but in actuality, is a nice guy,
blah, blah. He has a subtle coolness to his character, but is able to
open up to the girl he cares about.

This is the first show that I’ve seen Takako Tokiwa in, and
after seeing others, I can say that this is my favorite of her roles.
She has a smile that can light up the room, and she does a very good
job playing a handicapped person who doesn’t want to be treated
abnormally because of her handicap. If that didn’t make sense, then I’m
very sorry but that’s the best way I can say it.

At some points, this show was a bit slow for the average drama
watcher. However, I found that these “slow” points were just developing
the characters to an extent that the viewer can really feel their
happiness and pain. I could really feel for the character of Takumi
when he acts the way he does. I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to
spoil it for anyone.

The ending theme song “Konya Tsuki no Mieru oka ni” by B’z is a
good one. I don’t know why it fits this show, but at the end of an
episode, I would sit and listen to the ending theme because I enjoyed
listening to it.

I’m a sap for romantic comedies, love stories, or whatever, so
I really enjoyed this show. If you’re into this sort of thing, I’d
definitely recommend this show. If you’re not, I’d still recommend it.
Maybe your girlfriend might like it.

Two years ago, five high-school boys brought fame to a small town in
Japan. What was so unique was that they formed a “men’s synchronized
swimming club.” Their involvement and struggles while learning
synchronized swimming – known to be a sport for girls – brought much
attention to their school and town.

Two years have passed since that summer, and the boys of Tadano
High School are still in the club. The Fuji Television drama “Water
Boys” shows how these young boys fight to learn synchronized swimming,
fall in love, and enjoy friendship with one another.

Synopsis

Three years ago, the former all-girl Himeno High School opened its
doors to male students, but remains a female-dominated institution with
the majority of students being girls.

One day Eikichi Mizushima transfers from prestigious Aoba High
School in Tokyo where he was a member of the swimming team. While his
father is away in New York starting a new business, Eikichi has decided
to come to Himeji and live with his grandfather Kamekichi.

Yosuke Yamamoto had always wanted to establish a boy’s sports
club in school. When he learns that Eikichi belonged to a swimming
club, he springs into action.

The other boys in the school include Senichi Kawasaki nicknamed
“Wolf Boy Sen”, the good-looking Iwao Iwata who is the only boy the
girls talk to, and Hideki Sano, the rich son of the President of a
major supermarket, who is always surrounded by fans. Eikichi’s arrival
soon influences the boys in school and changes their way of thinking.

Eikichi is surrounded by unique characters at the school.
Shiori Yazawa, a senior at Himeno High, together with her parents Akira
and Kaoru, live in a rented portion of Kamekichi’s house. Kayo Oba, the
student body president, is feared by the boys. Kozue Kitagawa, a
devilish girl, belongs to the school wind ensemble together with
Shiori. The substitute teacher Hijiri Saotome is a former swimmer at
Tadano High School. English teacher Natsuko Ohara strongly opposes
“men’s synchronized swimming.” Classic literature teacher Haruka
Koshino hates men. And then there’s the coffee shop owner Kozo Kasuya,
who has something fishy about him. –Fuji TV
